Grown-Ups

Reading Club Fun is designed to be a catalyst – to encourage kids to read more broadly and discover how reading can open the way to greater independence and enjoyment of life.

Books play an important role in this online club, but our view is that reading of all kinds can contribute to creating bright, inquisitive minds. For this reason, we encourage kids to read everything from online news to comic books, from recipes to videogame players guides. The lesson is that reading opens up every avenue – to better careers, better understanding of the world, and better quality of life.

Naturally, adults can play a crucial role in helping to illuminate these reading opportunities. But thinking up ideas and creating methods for encouraging reading can be difficult.

That’s where Reading Club Fun comes in. We provide a variety of tools – from ideas for reading fun to free, printable certificates – to help adults nurture good reading habits in children. For each of the groups listed below, we have prepared a special section with tips and ideas. These sections serve:

  • Parents – who can sign up their kids and link the Club to family reading activities
  • Grandparents – who can use the Club to find out about popular books and ways to encourage their grandkids to read
  • Teachers – who can access the Club’s resources to provide incentives to reluctant readers
  • Home-Schoolers – who can supplement their instructional materials with additional free Club tools
  • Librarians – who can access the Club’s resources to create contests and display readers’ achievements around the library

You can create a Log-In that a group of kids – such as a classroom. On the Sign-Up Form, simply record the total number of children in the appropriate space in the Grown-Up section. Then, in the Children Information section of the form, create a First Name and Secret Code to be shared with the entire group of kids. This will allow them to visit Member-Only sections of the site.
